Welcome to Morning Open Thread

This is a daily post with a MOTley crew of hosts who choose the topic for the day's posting. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum.

This author, who is on Pacific Coast Time, may sometimes show up later than when the post is published. That is a feature, not a bug. Other than that, site rulz rule.

Come, faeries, take me out of this dull house!

Let me have all the freedom I have lost;

Work when I will and idle when I will!

Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,

For I would ride with you upon the wind,

Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,

And dance upon the mountains like a flame.

 — from The Land of Heart’s Desire, by William Butler Yeats

The best getaways are the ones where we get a chance to live really differently than we do in our everyday life. For some, that means speeding up and taking chances, and for others, it means slowing down and delving deeper.

I often feel like Goldilocks when I look at houses. Tiny houses are too small.  Mansions are too big.

But the Cob Cottage seems not too small, not too big, but just right. At 800 square feet, this little house gives you a little more breathing room than a true tiny house, and it’s loaded with fairy tale charm. While it doesn’t seem like a forever home to me because of its location, as an enchanted get-away-from-it-all, it makes my blood pressure drop just looking at it.

Apologies for the subtitles — This was the only narrated video I could find on this small house.

For the past several years, I’ve posted a series each April discussing William Shakespeare. This year, I find myself at a low ebb in energy and creativity, so I’m taking a break. I would never want to dishonor the Bard with anything less than my best efforts.

G’Morning/Afternoon/Evening MOTlies!

What’s your idea of the perfect getaway?

and if YOU HAVE a favorite poem, please share it!
