I posted my first WOW2 at Daily Kos on September 19, 2015. At that time, I only envisioned a once-a-month series, and I hoped I would be able to find the birth of one notable woman or one event in women’s history for every day of the year. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect WOW2 to become the huge and ever expanding endeavor that it is.
As it kept growing, WOW2 began to exceed the size limits on diaries at Daily Kos, so I expanded it, first to twice a month, then to three times a month, and in May 2021, it became a four-times-a-month post.
This month, we twice exceeded the size limits on diaries at Daily Kos, and had to resort to posting the diaries in two parts. This is awkward, and I believe unsustainable.
So it’s time to consider where WOW2 will go from here.
I am so grateful that this project which I started alone has attracted readers who contributed their own knowledge to the project, and two volunteers, libera nos and wow2lib, who have added their expertise, helped with the research, and corrected my many typos and errors. WOW2 became more than it ever would have been if it had continued to be the product of my efforts alone.
In particular, I wish to thank libera nos, for his enthusiasm and our exchange of ideas which have sparked so many improvements to the series.
I do not want WOW2 to be a lesser version of itself, so on January 7, 2023, the first of a series of experiments in search of a new direction for WOW2 will post.
Please stop by and let me know what you think – your comments and suggestions have always been such an important part of WOW2, and will be invaluable in finding WOW2’s new path.
Thank you for sharing in the discovery of the missing parts of our past, and of all the amazing women whose struggles and accomplishments have advanced the cause of women’s rights as human beings.
Wishing you a very wonderful New Year in 2023.
